Review of the Cost of Providing Childcare. PACEY Roundtable 9th Oct 2015

I was invited to the above Roundtable review meeting at the Department of Education in Westminister yesterday.  The purpose was to get some input from childminders on the Entitlement for 30 hours for 3 year and 4 year olds with working parents, and was a review of the cost of provision. the agenda was as follows.

The Review of Cost of Provision

As indicated earlier the government has committed to a funding rate that is fair and sustainable for providers and one that meets the needs of a diverse market

It is important that funding rates strike the right balance between being fair to providers and delivering value for money to the taxpayer.

The objective of this review is to inform Ministerial decisions over the correct rate to pay the free childcare entitlement, so as to ensure sufficiency and deliver value for money.

The review will report in the Autumn.

It was a stimulating and interesting discussion and a change for childminders to air their concerns.
