If you’ve ever heard of Montessori education, you’ll be readily familiar with its benefits. The advantages are unquestionable.
For many, this style of education has been and still remains tricky to access. Even though Montessori education’s routes lie with children from low income families, over the years its growing popularity has created a less accessible, expensive and elitist offering. A luxury for many.
Parents in Central London, particularly Camden, now have something to get excited about. Montessori for pre-schoolers has just become hugely accessible; flexible and affordable. It’s within reach. Right here in the centre of London.
Dorothy Williams of Busy Bumblebees Montessori in Camden has flung open her doors, inviting Under 5’s to experience Montessori in bite sized drop-in sessions. Sessions where children from 10 months to 5 years will receive inspiring learning opportunities through creative play, nurturing relationships and stimulating activities.
Sessions currently run on Tuesday’s in term time t Busy Bumblebees Montessori in Gower Street London. They encourage self-directed learning through individual exploration and play. Preschoolers can look forward to free play, singing, music making, movement games, arts and crafts….. and of course snack time. It is a fun and creative Preschool activity session in a lovely homely setting. Preschool Drop-in details.
“My aim is to bring Montessori to the community. To open up Montessori pre-school education and enable every child locally to benefit as my own son did many years ago. Time and time again I see Children positively responding to my teaching methods. My vision is simply to share this widely, to inspire Children to learn in a way that works for them and to tool up parents with techniques for home” says Dorothy. “I aim to make Montessori accessible for all’.
Dorothy’s offering is a fairly unique one. There are plenty of Montessori day nurseries and primary schools in and around London and the UK. But a flexible drop-in style Montessori preschool session is few and far between.
These drop-in sessions are a product of a passionate and dedicated teacher and childminder, who has spent years learning about Montessori and preschool education. Dorothy is a qualified Montessori teacher, child-minder and Early Years Teacher.
When asked about what’s driving her, Dorothy tells first hand of the benefits of Montessori education when her own son was young and struggling with dyslexia. Dorothy was driven to find a different way to help him read. This shy introverted child, was finding his early years tough and she knew there had to be a better way. Dorothy read every book on Montessori education she could get her hands on and moved her son to a Montessori nursery. She quickly saw him go from strength to strength and saw the benefits of this alternative education style. It was a natural step for Dorothy to complete her Montessori Pre-Primary Teaching Diploma. She knew this was the best way to help.
