The importance of Physical Development for Babies and Toddlers

imageimage During my first two years of running Busy bumblebee Montessori Childcare, l have become very aware of the importance of providing enabling environments for the children to develop.  The  EYFS requires that the physical development of babies and young children should be encouraged through the provision of opportunities within an enabling environment to enable them to be active and improve their skills of coordination, control, manipulation and movement.

Through attending a weekly Dancersize class and our own Forest type activity sessions at Collingham gardens, l have been amazed at the speed in which young toddlers of 15 months plus will learn to climb an incline.  howslider_12 they can push buggies from 24 months  up steep inclines and walk for great distances clearly enjoying every moment of these activities.

We have also started attending weekly toddler gym sessions and it is a pleasure to see the children in an environment that is safe and stimulating for their physical development learning how to master new skills every week with growing confidence.   Young children will never cease to amaze me with their determination to master an activity when you provide a good nurturing environment for them to explore in.
